St Nicholas Symposium 2019

What do Orthodox Christians believe about the Bible? How do they interpret it? Join us for our annual symposium on topics of interest to all Christians! Our speakers for this year's symposium will give practical talks that demonstrate the power of the scriptures and their place in Orthodox worship and life.

Fr Bogdan Bucur is Associate Professor of Theology at Duquesne University and pastor of St Anthony Orthodox Church in Butler PA. He is a scholar of early Christianity, with a special interest in the link between reception history of the Bible and doctrinal developments in early Christianity and the Byzantine tradition.

Dr Edith Humphrey is the William F Orr Professor of New Testament at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. The author of numerous articles on the literary and rhetorical study of the Bible, she has also written seven books. Her latest is, "Further Up and Further In: Orthodox Conversations with C. S. Lewis on Scripture and Theology" (St. Vladimir’s Press, 2017).

Andrew Weaver is a teacher at the Indiana Area School District and a former non-denominational pastor. He holds Masters degrees in theology and special education and is a sought after speaker and teacher.
